Psychologically speaking thanksgiving is the process of acknowledging the greatness of present/ now/ the moment in hand. Metaphysically it is the easiest, the shortest and the surest way of making a person conscious of his existence. Religiously it is the belief of a person accepting life as the greatest gift of god.Politically it is the master foundation for building a nation of equal emotional bandwidth.Economically it is the best strategy to build a capitalist economic system with equal opportunity for all.
From a scientific perspective the present is the effect of past.Emotionally the past is nothing but memories at human level. For a nation they are cherishing historic events. Memories never fade away rather it carries everything associated with it like waves in the sea.Fishermen everywhere have unwavering faith & hope in “Kadalamma” (Mother sea), that she is & will be their savior, in spite of occasional Sunamis.
In normal situations thanksgiving is a greater celebration than birthday. For birthday is the celebration of biological origin. On the other hand thanksgiving is the celebration of gratitude, the origin of spiritual existence. It is higher pedestal of human existence. Former is more of an ego boosting exercise like parents celebrate the birthday of their children. While the latter is like a grown up daughter celebrate 25th wedding anniversary of her parents.
Amidst a crisis situation, birthday celebration may be postponed, but the celebration of thanksgiving is more befitting in such situation as the present economic crisis, as it brings forth an emotional catherisis of rare human existence & experience.I think every nation should have a similar thanksgiving day. As it rejuvenates and unites the minds of citizens of a nation.
Happy Thanksgiving Day to all the Americans

Futuristic banks are those banks, lending their money to people who are working on futuristic opportunities.
Conventional banks lend their money to people against their traditional assets like land, building, machinery, raw material or information as security. Where as futuristic banks will be lending their money to customers against their knowledge & proven expertise as security.
The former involved a lot of valuation exercise especially from external agencies. On the other hand in latter, the appraisal will be done by the bankers themselves with a lot of online support system. All rights reserved © franciskj, 2009

Wealthyfication is the process of creating a tangible value for a useful commodity with the objective of empowering people to participate in creating & managing wealth of a nation.
In agricultural economy or in pre-industrial economy, agricultural land was treated as wealth. As a result land was taken as collateral security for lending money. In industrial period land. raw material & machinery were taken as security and in information age it was data & technique of managing data were given as security. in knowledge the raw material is brain & factory is thinking and the ideas are the products.
No nation in the world has embraced the idea of wealthyfication of knowledge of its people. No bank in the world is lending money for doing business against knowledge as security.Yet we know that it is people and their ideas that are going to be the pillars of Knowledge economy. Are we still living in paleolithic stage of Knowledge economy ?All rights reserved © franciskj, 2009

It is the process of creating futuristic wealth in a nation in knowledge economy. The conventional wealth is tangible assets like land, building & stocks.Post computer era the information was included in the asset category, but not in a transparent & scalable manner.Similarly in knowledge economy the expertise of people will be treated as a nation’s wealth.Though some companies have wealthyfied their human expertise, no nation in the world has taken any initiative in that direction.Even a barren piece of land is shown as part of wealth of a nation, but not the unemployed. On the other hand wealth creation of a nation need expertise of her people.
The context of my comment is that today’s editorial in nytimes.com ” The jobless wait” was bit educative as well as bewildering to me.
Since commenting facility was not given there I am writing it here. The educative aspect is that about 15 million Americans are unemployed from one day to six months or more. What is bewildering about the situation is that the debate is about whether to extend or increase unemployment benefit.
Analogically the situation is akin to a family which has a wealth of say US$ 10 million discussing with his wife whether to discontinue sending their son, a VI th standard student, to school, so as to serve that money , since he scored less grades.
Here if the family fails to motivate and send the child to school, the child will be misfit to make use of opportunities available in knowledge economy nor the family will be able to maintain their wealth as it needs knowledge to sustain or manage it.A classic TINA (there is no alternative) factor, situation.
One can give hundreds of analogies on it. But my question is that why can’t this data of 15 million be wealthyfied. Say each candidate has the potential wealth generation, minimum capacity of US$ 100,000 per annum and US$ one million in next 10 years. ( median wage @ US$ 30/hr & estimated for 10hrs/day and 330 days work in a year. creating wealth of US$ 1.5 trillion).
Like there are many pillars of democracy knowledge of people are the pillars of knowledge economy. knowledge tooling is the process of providing reinforcements to knowledge pillars of knowledge economy. Like a traffic jam gives enough time to an unfinished mobile communication with a friend, unemployment is the time for comprehensive fine tuning of a knowledge worker.
So my point is that when we treat people as assets , we will feel extending & increasing unemployment wages not as a charity but as an investment for sustaining & maintaining futuristic wealth creation process. Richest country can afford it and Obama should try it. If successful other nations can follow it.All rights reserved © franciskj, 2009
